Chapter 14 The Aim

Later on, if Isla wanted to investigate what had happened back then, it would be much harder.
She reached into her bag and pulled out a list, scanning from top to bottom–dozens of names.
These were all people who had once helped Aurora or falsely accused her. By now, probably no one even remembered her existence.
A faint smile tugged at the corner of her lips. No rush–she would deal with them one by one.
After the two of them prepared the lesson materials, they stepped out of the faculty office building.
Suddenly, a commotion erupted on the school playground. Students around them stopped in their tracks, all eyes turning toward a man in the center, surrounded by several school officials.
“Who’s the big shot visiting the school today?” Isla squinted, curious.
Logan glanced over, but it was too far to see clearly. He shook his head. “I haven’t heard anything. If some important guest were coming for an inspection, the school would have notified us beforehand. Who’s making such a big deal?”
He clicked his tongue in annoyance.
The two of them tried to approach, but a wave of students rushed past, cutting them off.
Looking up, David saw a dense sea of heads.
Most were girls, all flushed with excitement, buzzing like fans seeing a celebrity.
Ronan, dressed in a sharp black suit, walked among the school officials with a stern, imposing expression.
David trailed closely behind, his face equally grim.
Although the CEO had instructed him to keep a low profile and avoid drawing attention, the principal–clearly naive–had gone ahead and brought a group to receive them.
They hadn’t even walked far before a cluster of school leaders blocked their path. Being in a school, Ronan couldn’t refuse to show courtesy, but this was hardly the scene he wanted.
Today, a prodigious student of a medical genius was conducting her first public experiment. The CEO of Cloudie’s top conglomerate had matters to discuss with her, and the Cloudie University principal, eager to build good relations, naturally brought the school’s top officials personally.

Since they had already been discovered, there was no point hiding anymore–though this was clearly not what Ronan had hoped to see.
Tall and impeccably built, sunlight hitting his face to reveal a perfect profile, his cold, majestic features were like those of a deity. His eyes, deep and unreadable, gave away no emotion.
The aura around him, calm and commanding, exuded natural authority, drawing gasps and screams of admiration from the surrounding young female students.
In that instant, it seemed as if light itself gathered around him, turning everyone else into mere background.
“Mr. Ellsworth, you’ve finally arrived.”
“Mr. Ellsworth, your presence truly honors our school. Please, right this way.”
The high–ranking school officials displayed utmost respect.
Ronan nodded faintly in acknowledgment.
Walking through a crowd of admiring students, Ronan entered the office building, unaware that Isla was standing not far away.
She only glanced briefly, seeing the crowd and noise, and did not approach.
She had no idea that the man at the center, surrounded by all this attention, was the same person who had spoken to her at the construction site not long ago.
Logan, curious, scanned the crowd but could not spot her, a trace of disappointment in his eyes. “Isla, I’ll go check who this VIP is. Wait here for me.”
Unlike Isla, who remained indifferent to everything, Logan was naturally inquisitive.
Isla coldly nodded, not contradicting him.
Logan approached a girl whose face was flushed with excitement and asked her. The girl gestured animatedly as she spoke, and a hint of surprise appeared on Logan’s face.
At that moment, David, who had already made it up to the office building, instinctively glanced down–and noticed that the dense crowd of students hadn’t dispersed.
He genuinely hadn’t expected that Ronan had such a star–like appeal. Just one visit to the school, and so many girls were going wild.
David was still marveling, ready to look away, when a familiar figure caught his eye.
The person stood at the back of the crowd, tall and slender, skin luminous and smooth,

exuding a remarkable aura.
It was the kind of presence that made it hard to look away.
At first, David thought he must be mistaken–how could he be seeing Isla?
Upon closer inspection, he realized. That was Ronan’s wife?
Had she been standing there all this time?
If so, Ronan’s identity would be exposed.
David’s heart tightened. He quickly whispered to Ronan, “Mr. Ellsworth, that’s Miss Isla Beaumont.”

Ronan paused mid–step, following David’s gaze. Sure enough, he saw Isla standing at the back of the crowd.

shifted slightly. “She saw us?”
David shook his head. “I don’t know.”
Ronan’s expression darkened. “If she asks, do you know how to explain?”
David’s eyes tensed. “I’m sorry, Mr. Ellsworth. This is my failure.”
If he hadn’t notified the principal, the principal wouldn’t have caused such a scene—nor would so many people have been drawn here.
If Isla recognized Ronan’s identity, it would be a huge problem for him.
