Chapter 16 The Surprise
The shock was so intense that Lucas stood up completely.

Tobias also froze beside him. Though Isla had been young the last time they saw her, her face remained exactly the same–unchanged.
Lucas couldn’t believe it. Aurora–the girl he knew–was actually the new beautiful professor in their medical department?
How was that even possible?
She was still so young. How could she be a professor?
Lucas had really been hiding it all along.
“Boy, if you’re not here to attend class, please leave,” Isla said, setting down the books in her hands. Her gaze fell coldly on Lucas, her voice utterly devoid of warmth.
The other students were stunned too, but their shock was different from Lucas’s. They were simply overwhelmed by how young and beautiful the professor was.
Although they had heard she was pretty, none of them expected her to be this stunning.
Everyone gawked, only coming back to reality when her voice rang out. That was when they noticed Lucas acting strangely.
Lucas was frustrated. His mind was a whirlwind of questions he couldn’t voice.
How had Isla become a professor at their school? She had been in recovery abroad all this time, hadn’t even finished university.
Whenever friends asked about her, Lucas had always been embarrassed to answer.
He never expected Isla to appear in this way.
He was incomparably shocked.
“Hey, Lucas, what are you doing? Sit down.” Tobias tugged at him, puzzled. How could he not even know his own sister had come to class?
This was too strange.
Lucas only realized then, noticing the curious gazes of his classmates around him.
“Isn’t that Lucas? What’s he doing?”

“Is there a limit to how much he plays around? This is a professor, after all.”
“Exactly. So annoying”

Lucas’s handsome face flushed slightly. He sat down reluctantly, his eyes locked on Isla as if trying to see right through her.
The classroom quieted. Isla opened her laptop and began the lecture.
At first, everyone thought she was just a pretty face, but the more they listened, the more impressed they became. Gradually, the chatter died down, and all attention shifted to her knowledge rather than her looks.
Lucas, however, was still grappling with disbelief.
On the stage, Isla seemed like a completely different person. The timid, weak girl he remembered—always crying or shirking responsibility—had transformed in just three years.
Could someone really change that much in so short a time?
She stood at the podium in front of hundreds of students, calmly delivering professional knowledge. Every gesture seemed effortless, as if she had done this countless times before.
This Isla radiated confidence and brilliance from the inside out.
She was a world apart from the Isla who had once been humiliated and trampled underfoot.
Lucas’s mind was a mess. He couldn’t accept that the sister he had disliked–Isla–had become a professor admired by so many.
Suddenly, Tobias nudged him. “Lucas, snap out of it. Isla just called on you to answer a question.”
Lucas jolted back to reality.
He realized that Isla was staring coldly at him from the stage, while the rest of the students shot him curious looks.
He stood up, stunned.
“Boy, please answer the question I just asked,” Isla’s calm voice carried across the room.
Lucas froze. He had been so distracted by Isla’s transformation that he hadn’t even heard the
lecture.
How could he possibly answer?

All eyes were on him, yet his words stuck in his throat. He couldn’t get a single sentence out.
Back in high school, Lucas had been somewhat famous, and people had been afraid of him.
But in university, his spoiled, arrogant attitude didn’t earn respect. There were plenty of students richer and more handsome than him; people valued both looks and substance.
Now, standing there speechless, Lucas embarrassed himself in front of everyone.
“I used to think he was handsome and smart, but he can’t even answer such a simple question?”
“He probably wasn’t paying attention. The professor just explained the answer a moment ago.”
“Probably another heir thinking he can slack off at school just because of his family wealth.”
“I actually thought he was decent before,”
The mocking voices around him made Lucas lose face, and his glare at Isla grew increasingly furious.
“Are you doing this on purpose?” he snapped.
The surrounding students gasped at the words.
“That’s the professor. What kind of attitude is that?”
“Even if he can’t answer the question, this is unnecessary.”
Isla tilted her lips into a slight, cruel smile. “On purpose? I only asked a student to answer a question. What’s the problem with that?”
