At their age now, compared to the students around them, they carried a more mature and composed aura, exuding an increasing sense of masculinity that made passing young girls glance back repeatedly.
Isla calmly observed the two men before her.
They were once the brothers she had respected most.
When Isla was a child, wherever she went, her brothers always accompanied her.
But now, the looks in their eyes were cold–each one colder than the other.
They were also the ones who had misunderstood her the most.
In the second half of her freshman year, everyone had planned a trip to the swimming pool together.
Owen was still a senior then, with a girlfriend he intended to marry right after graduation,
Gemma Green.
But that day, an accident happened. Isla had an argument with Gemma, and later, Gemma disappeared. By the time she was found, she had drowned in the pool.
As fate would have it, Isla had been seen by someone after the incident. The subsequent surveillance footage mysteriously vanished. Some even claimed that she had pushed Gemma, and she became labeled a murderer.
From that moment on, Isla lost the trust of her family and was gradually driven into a pit by
Aurora.
No matter how much she tried to explain, no one would listen.
Although there wasn’t enough evidence to arrest her, Owen hated her with a vengeance.
Everyone assumed it was because Gemma had stolen the affection Owen had for Isla, fueling Isla’s resentment.
People even thought she was abnormal, and Owen found Isla disgusting.
But what had Isla actually done? She had done nothing at all.
Even now, Gemma’s death remained an unsolved mystery.
Yet everyone had already decided that Isla was the culprit.

Chapter 19 Brothers‘ Rage
Isla calmly studied the two men.
“Isla?” Jasper frowned and spoke first.
“Your elder brother?” Logan glanced at the two men and asked.
Over the past few days, Logan had learned some things about Isla’s family.
Isla had two elder brothers, a younger brother and a sister.
The two men bore some resemblance to Isla, were slightly older, and must be her elder brothers.
Isla didn’t answer him. She looked at them instead and asked, “What do you want?”
Only Aurora was capable of making both brothers act.
Jasper frowned at Isla’s cold demeanor, his tone sharp. “What are you doing at school?”

“Still planning to cause trouble for Aurora, huh? How long do you intend to keep this up?” Owen also questioned her in a cold voice.
“Trouble?” Isla raised her eyes, locking onto Owen’s gaze, asking seriously, “Shouldn’t that question be for you? How long does the Beaumont family intend to target me?”
Owen’s face darkened. “Target you? With your filthy reputation, being able to marry at all is already a stroke of luck. What more do you want?”
Jasper added, “It was our fault not to inform you in advance, but you didn’t need to turn it around and threaten the family by coming to school to mess with Aurora. What does this have to do with her? She never knew. Can’t you just behave?”
Isla let out a low laugh.
Logan, who had originally wanted to get along with Isla’s elder brothers, now frowned. Their words were sharp and unpleasant, and his expression darkened.
When Isla returned, she had been unmarried, and according to their mentor, still single.
Yet in just a few days, she had married, a man who worked on a construction site.
Originally, Logan couldn’t make sense of it all. But now, listening to the siblings‘ conversation, he finally understood.
Isla had been manipulated by the family.
No wonder Isla would rather live in a shabby rental than return home.

This family was simply too cruel.

“Are you really Isla’s family?” Logan asked them angrily.

The two froze, frowning at him. “Who are you? This is our family matter. We don’t need an outsider interfering.”
“Outsider?” Logan’s anger flared. “This is my friend. I won’t let you bully her. Are you even men, bullying your sister?”
The two men’s faces darkened. They ignored him and looked back at Isla. “Come home with us and apologize properly to Aurora. Then we might consider forgiving you.”
Their tone carried the weight of condescension.
Isla let out a short, sharp laugh. “Did I say I wanted your forgiveness?”
“What do you mean?” Owen was stunned.
“Exactly what I said,” Isla sneered.
She took two steps forward, her eyes devoid of the admiration and respect they had once commanded, now radiating coldness that left the two men momentarily stunned.
“If you don’t treat me as a sister, I don’t need you as brothers,” she sneered. “Don’t think too highly of yourselves.”
With that, Isla strode past them. “I said it—a million. No more, consequences on you.”
“You dare-” Owen lunged forward, grabbing Isla’s arm.
The force made Isla wince in pain. She met Owen’s gaze, which was fierce and threatening. “You’ve been given a chance. Now come back with me and apologize to Aurora.”
“Damn it.” Logan could no longer restrain himself. He stepped forward and pushed Owen aside. “Don’t go too far.”
