“This wasn’t something they came up with on the spot,” Officer Thomas Hill said grimly. “They had been planning all of this for a long time.”
What disgusted me most was that Anthony’s phone still
contained messages Anna had sent him: [The drug has been placed. Half a year after Christmas, she’ll die of liver cancer, and no one will suspect us.]
So that was the truth of my past life!
In my previous life, I had thrown myself wholeheartedly into married life with Anthony. Every day, I only thought about making Anthony happy and living a good life. But I never imagined that Anthony had been plotting to kill me all along.
Because Anna was pregnant, the police allowed her to remain at home temporarily without detention, awaiting notification. Anthony, however, was taken to the interrogation room. Even with the evidence laid out before him, he still refused to confess.
“I have a business trip coming up. You’ve really got the wrong guy. Anna and I aren’t close–she’s just some crazy woman who’s been chasing after me,” Anthony said anxiously, trying to defend himself.

“If you voluntarily confess to your crimes, you can receive lenient treatment. Anthony, as long as you voluntarily explain what happened, we can apply for a reduced sentence. Otherwise…” Thomas tried to persuade him.
“Officer, I really don’t know anything!” Anthony still wouldn’t admit it.
Thomas sighed and placed a video in front of Anthony.
In the video, Anthony said to Anna: “Anna, you love me the most. I’m just one step away now. If you do what I say, after tonight I’ll take you abroad to have the baby, and you can live comfortably as a wealthy woman.”
The composure on Anthony’s face instantly froze, and he could no longer smile.
“This is fake!” he suddenly roared.
Anthony’s previous elegance completely vanished, and his carefully styled hair became disheveled from struggling. He shouted angrily: “This must be fabricated! Someone’s trying to frame me!”
Anthony struggled frantically while Thomas kept issuing warnings. Seeing that he was about to flip the table, the two

officers in the interrogation room immediately stepped forward and pinned him to his chair.
Thomas said: “This video hasn’t been edited in any way–we’ve already verified that. Just to confirm with you, the court will try you for your crimes in about a day. We’re preparing to close the
case.”
Anthony instantly went limp, the light in his eyes growing dim.
He suddenly looked toward me behind the glass, then mouthed to me: “I was able to kill you before, and I can do it again. You deserve to die.”
The officers led Anthony away. His words reminded me of my tragic death in my past life. I was certain–he must have been
reborn too.
On the way home, Ryan insisted on walking me back.
“How do you feel? Like you’ve accomplished something big?” he
asked with a smile.
I smiled back: “I definitely feel like the weight that’s been pressing on my heart has finally lifted.”
My tone carried a hint of relief, but thinking of Anthony’s words, my heart still felt somewhat heavy.

It suddenly started raining. Ryan took off his jacket and held it over both of us like a canopy.
“Let’s find a shop to wait out the rain, then continue when it stops,” I said helplessly.
But the rain suddenly became very heavy, making even our vision blurry.
When we reached an intersection, a black sedan suddenly came charging toward me as if out of control.
Then Ryan forcefully pushed me away.
But he was hit and sent flying far away, landing heavily on the road 20 feet away.
“Ryan!” I screamed with wide eyes, crawling toward him.
I pulled out my phone, unlocked it with trembling hands, and dialed 911.
I said urgently: “There’s been a car accident at the intersection about 600 feet from the New Rochelle Police Department –
Harbor Unit.”
I held Ryan in my arms—he had already lost consciousness. I looked up at the vehicle that caused the accident and discovered that the person in the driver’s seat was actually Anna!
