Chapter

Adrian looked utterly exhausted as he stood at my door. Caroline, I need to talk to you.”

I just looked at him in silence

He licked his lips, trying to act calm. I’ve always wanted to tell you. The only Luna I truly want is you. I love you

Hazel has a bad temper and spends money like water. I”

I let out a cold laugh. You keep saying you’re waiting for me, but your body’s busy giving her a pup.”

He tried to defend himself. I can explain”

I shook my head. I hope you and Hazel grow old together.”

He looked stunned, then muttered, Lately, I keep dreaming that you’re my Luna, the one caring for my parents. But in the

dream, when we’re old, I’m begging you to break the mate bond in front of our descendants.”

His voice was hoarse, heavy with regret. I’m sorry.”

You need to move on and take care of Hazel,I said indifferently. Just don’t come looking for me anymore

He fell silent for a moment, his eyes growing darker. But you’re supposed to be my Luna.”

My tone went cold. Go back to your room. This isn’t the place for this conversation.”

Adrian seemed completely defeated as he turned away

In both lives, he kept going back and forth between the two of us. He wanted someone to care for him and keep his life in order

but he never let go of the thrill of cheating

I didn’t want to stay there any longer

Early the next morning, I knocked on Eleanor’s door, carrying the gifts in my hands

Eleanor, thank you for everything you and your family have done for me. I have some school matters to take care of, so I’ll be

leaving,I said as I handed her the gifts

I left the house without looking back and headed straight to the station. Once there, I waited in line quietly

But when I finally reached the counter, I was told all tickets to Larkspur City were sold out. The soonest I could leave was two days

later

I pressed my fingers to my temples, sighing. Where was I supposed to go now

Just as I was starting to stress out, a familiar voice called from behind me, Caroline!”

I turned and saw Finn walking over, carrying a few bags

I blinked in surprise. Finn? I didn’t know you were from around here.”

He nodded, grinning. Yeah. Are you heading back to Northlands?”

I nodded. I wanted to head back to university early, but all the tickets are sold out.”

He noticed I had nowhere to go. So, he reached out and took my suitcase

It’s just me and my grandma at home. Christmas feels a little too quiet. Why don’t you come over and make it more festive?”

He gave me a pleading look. Come on, Caroline. Think of it as doing my grandma a favor, okay?”

I couldn’t say no, so we headed to his home in the neighboring pack

As soon as we walked through the door, I was hit with the mouthwatering smell of stew simmering in the air

Finn, you’re back! Who’s this lovely young lady?”

His grandmother, Edith Davila, had kind eyes and a warm smile as she looked me over

I felt my cheeks flush with embarrassment

Grandma, this is Caroline Thompson. She’s my friend from university.”

Come in, sweetheart. Make yourself at home.”

While Edith kept busy in the kitchen, Finn buzzed around helping her

The house was filled with warmth. For the first time in a long time, I felt truly at ease

My wolf, too, seemed perfectly content, lazily dozing inside me

After dinner, Finn and I walked around the yard, letting our food settle

The night was mild, and the stars were bright

Thank you,I said softly. If it weren’t for you, I’d have nowhere to go right now. I don’t really have a home to return to.”

He looked at me with a gentle smile. Then why not make my home yours from now on?”

I was a little taken aback

His smile only grew brighter. So, how do you plan to thank me? I just saved a lone wolf, after all.”

His teasing made me laugh, and I gave him a playful glare. Are you trying to con me, Finn?”

He just grinned, sighing dramatically. You caught me. But what I really want is to con you into being my mate.”

I couldn’t help rolling my eyes. Just so you know, I’m terrible in the kitchen.”

He shrugged. I’m not picky.”

I’m not great at housework.”

I’ll do it.”

I have a bad temper.”

I’ve got plenty of patience,he said, his eyes shining with affection

My cheeks warmed, and I instinctively took a step back

Right then, the Christmas bells chimed through the air, and fireworks lit up the sky

I stared up at the shimmering stars, then looked back at him

Merry Christmas,he said in a low voice. I like you, Caroline.”

With fireworks bursting all around us, I blushed and nodded
