“No!”
Leo, hearing the commotion, rushed in from the hall next door. He looked at Isabelle, his face a mask o anguish. “Isabelle, you don’t love this man! Why are you doing this to yourself?”
Isabelle gave Leo a look brimming with tragic love before turning back, her resolve hardened. “Leo, I’m sorry I can’t be your bride.”
She then faced Damian. “Listen up. I’m willing to marry you, but I have a few conditions.”
“First, while I may be your wife in name, Leo and I are the ones who are truly in love. You are not to interfer with our relationship.”
“Second, I will be having children with Leo. If you behave yourself, they can call you ‘Uncle Daddy‘ and inheri your company.”
“Third, for making such a huge sacrifice, you will give me a monthly allowance of ten million dollars.”
A cold, humorless smile twisted Damian’s lips. “Are you off your meds? Who let the crazy out?”
He looked at me, still stunned into silence, and pulled me to his side. “Darling, don’t look. It’ll pollute you eyes.”
That broke the spell. My parents went on the offensive.
“Do you see now, Isabelle? Aurora and Damian are truly in love!” my mother cried. “Stop projecting your ow twisted worldview onto everyone else and get out!”
My brother snapped his fingers, and several large men in black suits appeared, ready to remove them.
Isabelle, clumsy in her wedding dress, was easily hoisted up. “The more you overreact, the more it prove you have something to hide!” she shrieked. “Aurora could never love a man she was forced to marry! Sto being such hypocrites!”
She was the hero of her own story, perched on a moral high ground of her own making.
Seeing my parents clutching their chests in anger, I knew I couldn’t stay silent any longer.
I took Damian’s hand, lacing our fingers together for all to see. “Who says we don’t have feelings for eacl other? On the contrary, I fell in love with my husband at first sight. I wouldn’t marry anyone else!”
It was a bold, shameless declaration. I could feel the teasing glances of the guests on us.
Damian let out a theatrical cough, pulling me closer by the waist. “Let’s save that kind of talk for home, shal
we?”
Now, no one could doubt that we were a love match.

Isabelle’s face turned a mottled shade of purple. “Aurora, I’m trying to save you, and you’re putting on thi:
act? You ungrateful bitch!”
Her gaze, filled with hatred, shifted to my family. “And you! You’ll all regret this! When Aurora ends up dead, i will be on your hands! You will have driven her to it!”
Her voice was so shrill it seemed to shake the chandeliers. But the room was filled with the city’s elite. The
just saw a pathetic, unhinged woman making a scene.
The wedding continued, this time without interruption. My father placed my hand in Damian’s. His eyes wer
moist, but his voice was fierce. “Aurora is the jewel of our family. If you ever dare to treat her poorly, the ent
re Beaumont clan will come for you.”
Damian nodded solemnly. “I will spend my entire life making her happy.”
The moment was captured by the press and became the next day’s headline.
