“Ah!”
My forehead slammed against the stage edge, warm liquid trickling down my cheek.
The entire venue erupted instantly.
Seeing this, Zachary’s vanity swelled with satisfaction.
“Playing the innocent? Look at you now–still putting on airs?”
Zachary kicked my abdomen, pain forcing me into a fetal curl.
He grabbed my hair and yanked me up, landing two sharp slaps across my face.
“Alexander wants you to dance–that’s an honor!”
My ears rang violently, mouth filling with coppery blood.
Out the corner of my eye, I saw Alexander holding Nicole while they watched the spectacle. She pre- tended to cover her eyes but peeked through her fingers.
Suddenly, Nicole blinked with feigned innocence. “Huh? Doesn’t Katherine share the owner’s last name here?”
The room fell silent for a second before exploding in laughter.
“Her? Worthy of being mentioned alongside Exclusive Nightclub’s owner?”
“If Katherine’s the boss’s sister, then I’m God!”
Alexander snorted, tightening his grip around Nicole’s waist. “Nicole, you’re too naive. A thief like her doesn’t deserve comparison with the Jones family.”
Nicole nestled against him, simpering, “I just thought of it suddenly.”
Crouched in the stage corner, I felt life draining from me.
“Alexander…” Nicole pointed at me, faking a concerned frown. “Maybe… stop? Katherine looks really hurt…”

“As a fellow woman, I can’t bear to watch-”
Alexander ruffled her hair. “Why defend her now? Ah, a sweet girl like you could never outsmart such
a schemer.”
“If only all girls were as pure as you.”
Meanwhile, Zachary leaned close, his foul breath hitting my neck.
“Little bitch, tonight you’ll learn what a real man feels like…”
His hand crept up my thigh. I froze, nausea rising again.
I shut my eyes, voice cracking. “Please…”
Trembling, I dug my nails deep into my palms, throat thick with blood.
་་
“Let me go…”
Zachary grinned, tobacco stench blasting my face. “Begging now? Too late!”
He viciously yanked my hair, forcing my head back.
His other hand ripped my collar open, face contorted. “Soon you’ll be crying for daddy!”
Chills racked my body, strength gone, helpless as he loomed over me…
Cheers and camera flashes flooded the space.
“Wait!” A woman’s voice cut through.
I strained to turn, seeing Nicole “frantically” rush onstage.
Eyes red, voice quivering, she cried, “This is my fault… She only wanted Alexander gone because she loved him too much…”
Kneeling, she pretended to help but hissed only for me: “Serves you right for stealing Alexander.”
Her nails gouged into the wound on my arm.
“Ah!”
I trembled in pain as she staggered back and collapsed onto the floor.
“Katherine… you…”

Her eyes instantly reddened, tears welled up instantly. “I just wanted to help… why do you always hurt
me…”
Alexander immediately rushed onto the stage, pulling Nicole into his arms.
“Nicole! Are you alright?”
“Alexander…” Nicole leaned weakly against his chest, sobbing. “My… my chest hurts…”
“You bitch!” Alexander whirled around and kicked me hard, roaring, “Nicole tried to help you, and you pushed her?”
Blood spilled from my lips, hot and metallic. Instead of crying, I laughed–wild, broken, hysterical.
Because I knew.
He was coming.
“Crazy bitch,” someone sneered.
“She’s lost her mind!”
“Alexander, your ex really is insane!”
Alexander’s brows drew together, his eyes full of contempt―right before—
BANG!
The doors of Exclusive Nightclub slammed open. Music cut off. Lights blazed white.
A dozen men in black suits stormed in, sealing every exit.
The crowd froze, the air snapping with dread.
Alexander blanched, shoving Nicole behind him. “Who dares cause trouble here? Do you know who I am? I’m from the Harris family!”
No one answered.
The bodyguards lined up, parting like a tide.
A tall man in a black trench coat strode forward, his gaze sharp enough to kill.
My chest tightened. My voice was only a whisper.
“Brother…”

Joshua’s eyes found me instantly.
The second he saw my blood, his face turned lethal, veins standing out on his jaw.
The nightclub held its breath.
His voice was calm, deadly.
“Who. Did. This?”
