Chapter 5

Paisley’s POV

I hadn’t signed the divorce agreement, yet Geoffrey and Audrey’s wedding was already being planned.

He bought her a private island somewhere in the Pacific, throwing millions as if it were pocket change. That was just her dowry.

The wedding itself was nothing like mine with him.

The soda-can tab I once wore as a ring had become Audrey’s Harry Winston diamond.

The faded mosquito-net dress I once wore as a wedding gown had become her couture dress covered in diamonds.

To outsiders, it looked as if Geoffrey and I had once shared a secret, extravagant wedding.

But the truth was, after we pledged ourselves to each other in that shabby rental apartment, the following seven years were spent running through blood and storms. We never once had the chance to stand before the world and declare our happiness.

“Honored guests.” Geoffrey personally took the microphone, unwilling to let anyone else narrate this moment of bliss. “Today, I want to introduce the only jewel in my heart, my-”

But his speech was cut off as the grand doors suddenly burst open. Screams filled the hall as my people flooded in, taking control of the wedding in seconds.

A chandelier also crashed down, nearly striking Audrey. She shrieked in terror, but Geoffrey quickly pulled her arms for protection.

He was shocked when he saw me.

“You… you actually followed us here!”

“Finding you was never that hard,” I sneered.

Then I tossed a recorder at his feet.

“Turns out, you’re quite the schemer, Mr. Dittman.”

The next second, the wedding march cut off, and the speakers filled with Audrey’s breathless

moans.

“Geoffrey, all these years I was abroad, you actually held back from having children with that old hag?”

Geoffrey’s voice came, ragged and rough, “I don’t make a habit of sleeping with other women.”

She laughed. “Liar. You still think I’m a child?”

Then there was a sound of a playful slap.

“Tell the truth!”

Then came his low, satisfied sigh, followed by a kiss.

“She’s dirty.”

Hearing the recording, Geoffrey’s brow furrowed, though it kept playing.

Audrey’s voice teased him again, “But your dear wife has been with you so long. Are you saying

she was unfaithful all that time?”

“Of course not,” he replied, between scattered kisses. “When she was eight months pregnant, she charged into a rival’s den and miscarried right after. How would I know if one of them touched her? That’s why my son died?”

Her laughter dripped with malice. “Mm… maybe your wife really wasn’t touched, after all.”
