A shiver ran down my spine and my knees grew weak.

“Alexander, did you transfer your curse to me?” I whispered, my voice raw and shaking. “You did this on purpose right? Because I said I’d leave you, you did this?”
Alexander’s hands cupped my cheek. “I’m desperate enough to do almost anything to keep you by my side, but I would never do that,” he snarled.
I stared at him, vision blurred. “Desperate?” My voice cracked open, high and small. “You’ve ruined me and
you
let the whole pack do the same, Alexander.”
“You think I wanted this?” he rasped, eyes blazing. “You think I wanted to watch you suffer, to hear them call you names, to see you flinch every time Fiona and the Elders did something to you? You think I enjoyed it?”
I nodded furiously “So you didn’t enjoy Fiona’s company? Her-”
“Stop,” he growled, as if that name disgusted him. I swallowed hard, trying to avoid his piercing glare.
“I only used them to make you hate me. I’d rather you hate me than watch you turn into me.” His voice broke into a snarl.
I understood perfectly but I didn’t want to believe it. That would be too easy and I was still hurt.
I refuse to give in.
“Listen to me,” he continued. “This is why I didn’t tell you. This is why Levi kept it from you too. Because we didn’t want to scare you. We thought we could stop it with just potions but it was more than that.”
Levi knew too and he didn’t tell me?
My nails bit into his chest as I shoved at him. “Scare me? There were scales under my skin, and you’re telling me it’s nothing?”
“But you’re bleeding now because the bond has weakened,” he forced out, his grip rougher, angrier at my panic than at me. “That means it worked and things can go back to normal”
Back to normal?
“That was when? Before I was kidnapped by Terran? Before Gaia and that shapeshifter?” I shook my head hard, vision streaked with red and wet. “There was never a normal time.”
“There will be.” His voice sank lower, softer but no less fierce, like a knife pressed against my ear. “After the curse is broken we’ll-”
“So what’s the real curse?” I threw it at him. “You’ve spoken about curses yet, I don’t know the curse I’m supposed to break or how I’d break it. I need to know, I’m tired of wondering what it is.”

For a second, I thought he’d finally say it. I thought he’d give me something, anything. But he only shut his eyes and gritted his teeth. “You’re not ready yet.”
That broke my heart.
“Not ready? That’s your excuse?” My voice came out jagged, spit through sobs. “You kept this from me, you and Levi both, and you’re standing here telling me I’m not ready when I know this much?”
“I’m protecting—
“No,” I sighed in frustration. “It shows how little and weak you think of me-”
“Do you think I’d fight this hard if you meant nothing to me? You know me better than this- better than anyone, Aquamarine.” he rasped. His face was so close I could feel his hot breath on mine, “You know why I’m doing this.”
My heart pounded. I just wish he’d say those words I wanted him to say instead of going through corners.
He just wants me for a child. But he’s playing with my heart.
“This is why I hate you.” I sniffed.
“I’ll change that,” his lips brushed mine without mercy as his words slurred. “But don’t you dare believe I don’t love you.”
My eyes went wide and my heart stopped working. Did I hear correctly?
Love?
“Alexander-” I tried, but my voice dissolved when his mouth crashed onto mine.
I should have shoved him off.
I should have fought the giant boulder sucking the air out of my lungs.
But how could I?
I missed this.
The fire–heat–scent–him.

the love he refused to say aloud for so long,
He kissed me deeply, pouring all his unspoken emotions into it the protection he wanted to give me without hurting my feelings.
My arms wrapped around his neck automatically despite fighting myself. The kiss turned passionate quickly -desperate even -and I could do nothing but watch as everything began to unfold.
He lifted me up suddenly, wrapping my legs around his waist without breaking the kiss. His hands gripped my ass firmly, grinding his hardening erection against my core through our clothes, making me gasp into his

“I can’t live with the distance anymore. I want you like this,” he murmurs against my lips between kisses.
I tore my mouth away from his, breathing heavily. My nails dug into his shoulders as I struggled between pushing him away and pulling him closer.
My body shook, my underwear was wet, my clit was twitching and my nipples were hard like beads. I couldn’t even think straight without the way my wolf was raging inside me.
Like she needed this more than I do. So is this moment heat–driven? Or something worth more?
But I wanted him to say it. To repeat what he said earlier.
“You can’t just say that,” I panted, tears spilling down my cheeks again. “Not when you only want me for breeding.”
He growled low in his throat, clearly frustrated. “Sometimes your obliviousness pains me,” he grumbled, pressing his forehead against mine. “I’m not fucking you against this wall because I want a child.”
So you really love me?
I wanted to ask, but he cut off by kissing me again, even more fiercely than before. His hands slid under my shirt, gripping my sides possessively as he lifted me higher against the wall. “I’m fucking you because I want you,” he snaps between biting my lips.
“I’m fucking you because I want to remind you who your mate is and who you belong to,” he growled as he unbuckled his belt with one hand and pulled down his pants with the other. “I’m fucking you in this balcony because I want the whole pack to see I’m yours and you are mine. Nobody would ever dare to think he can have what’s mine.”
I swallowed hard, trying to keep my mind focus but without hesitation, he pulled my underwear aside and traced my folds with his finger.
“Fuck”
