Chapter 131
Chapter 131
LUNA AQUAMARINE’S POV
:
I stood by the window in my chambers to watch the morning training session.
I sighed as I looked down at the courtyard below, biting my fingers.
The Moonstone pack warriors moved in perfect formation under command.
The Alpha’s command.
Clifford’s.
The Reigning Alpha.
Four months had passed ever since all of us had arrived here at this pack.
And everything had changed.
I was no longer Alexander’s wife and mate or the Luna of his pack.
Clifford was no longer my slave.
He was a ruler now.
Alexander had bestowed his pack back to him and let him go after the incident.
And here I was.
The sound of the door opening cause some to turn back to see Katherine.
She had entered with a tray of food.
“Luna Aquamarine, you will need to eat something,” she said to me.
I turned away from the window.
“I’m not hungry.”
Her brows rose at my statement.
“But the baby needs food even if you yourself do not want it.”
Yes, my baby.
Alexander’s xhild.
I rubbed my stomach slightly.

“I said no,” I told her.
But she only shrugged.
I knew then that she was going to ignore me and go ahead to do whatever.
I watched her with an irritated gaze as she set the tray on the small table.
“You have barely eaten anything in three days Luna. I am keeping this.”
Katherine was right.
My hand cradled my stomach where a small baby bump was starting to show.
I was four and a half months pregnant, and I still couldn’t believe this was real.
“Any word from the eastern borders?” I asked, sitting down at the table.
“Alpha Clifford will tell you all if that when he eventually gets back.”
Katherine poured tea into a cup.
“Now eat,” she pressed.
I gave her a dirty look.
She groaned in frustration.
“Fine,” she said. “I don’t know much, but from what I heard, it’s not good news.”
I picked up a piece of bread.
I nodded before I took a small bite and almost spat the bland pastry out.
All food seem to taste like ash these days because of the pregnancy.
“How many kingdoms has he taken now?”
“Four.”
Katherine’s voice was quiet.
There was silence for a while.

“The Council of Seven is in complete panic because none of them had expected him to reveal himself like
this.”
Alexander.
Just the small act of even thinking his name instantly caused my chest to tighten.

Chapter 131
The man who had confessed his love to me and also told me about his curse.
The same man who had touched me and fucked me into his own.
The same man who had made me believe that we had a future together..
That was the same man who had readily thrown me away for that Fiona.
“Luna?” Her voice jolted me out of my thoughts and I looked up.
I found Katherine looking down at me with eyes that were filled with concern.
“Are you alright?”
“I am fine,” I said through gritted teeth as I forced down another bite of bread.
She made to speak but the sound of a light rap at the door held her back.
“Come in,” I invited.
The door to the bedroom simply fell open and Clifford walked into the space.
His dark hair was messy from training and there was mud on his boots.
He looked tired.
“Good morning,” he said to me as he nodded respectfully at Katherine.
His eyes found mine again.
“How are you feeling today?” He asked me the same thing he asked everyday.
“The same as yesterday.”
I set down the bread.
I was tired of chewing it.
“Are there news from the borders?” Clifford exchanged a look with Katherine.
“Maybe you should eat first.”
“Just tell me,” I snapped at him.
He sighed and sat down across from me.
“The Dragon King’s forces attacked the Silverwood Kingdom yesterday.”
A gasp left my mouth.
“They surrendered before noon.”

Chapter 131
Alexander was at it again.
He was going around and conquering kingdoms like a killing machine.
What was wrong with him?
“That’s five kingdoms,” I said quietly.
“Yes.” Clifford reached across the table and covered my hand with his.
I looked up at him.
“You are protected here. The Moonstone pack is strong. My warriors are loyal.”
I looked down at his hand on mine.
Clifford had been nothing but kind to me in these past months in his pack.
He had given me a new home when I had nowhere to go from Alexander.
He had also made sure that I would feel safe and comfortable here.
He had been a great help to me through the worst days after Alexander’s rejection.
And I could see it in his eyes sometimes, the way he would look up at me.
There was something about how he always made sure I had everything I needed.
But, I didn’t return any of those feelings that I already found in his eyes.
“Clifford,” I started.
But he pulled his hand away.
“I know,” he said softly. “I know you don’t feel the same way Aquamarine.”
Katherine cleared her throat.
“I should go check on the kitchen staff,” she murmured in an embarrassed voice.
“No,” I said, “stay.”
I looked at both of them.
Clifford leaned back in his chair.
“The pack members are nervous over what happened in the other kingdoms.”
They should be.
I was too.

“They whispers that Alexander isn’t just killimh his enemies anymore.”
His voice dropped.
“He just destroys everything and burns the entire cities to the ground.”
I swallowed hard.
“He doesn’t take prisoners and…”
Clifford paused.
“I think that is enough.”
Clifford’s jaw was tight.
I took a deep breath.
“The Alexander we knew is gone. This is something else entirely.”
I felt sick.
The bread that I had managed to eat almost threatened to come back up.
“And Fiona?” I demanded. “Is she still with him and still pregnant?”
I prayed everyday that they wouldn’t last because Alex didn’t deserve happiness.
I wanted him to suffer like me.
But my prayers must have been going to the wrong god as it never happened.
Katherine’s voice was bitter.
“They say she’s due any day now.”
Pain flared in my chest.
The baby would have been mine if he had not rejected me and chosen her instead.
I pushed the thought away.
It did no good to think about what might have been after all of this.
The milk has been spilt already.
Katherine moved closer to my chair.
“I have doubled the guards around the palace because I fear for you.”
I rubbed my temples where the signs of a headache was just starting.

Chapter 131
“Alexander may change his mind and decide to come back here for you.”
It was true, what he said.
“I wouldn’t have that. I would stay by you to protect you Aquamarine.”
The emotion in his voice wrapped around my head and almost made me woozy.
Katherine sat down beside me just as a loud crash came from somewhere in the palace..
We all froze.
“What was that?” I asked, getting to my feet at the same time as Katherin.
Clifford stop quickly.
“Stay here,” he warned. “Both of you.”
Before I could speak there was another crash and it was closer this time.
Then the sound of loud shouting began to come from the hallway.
“An attack?” Katherine whispered just as Clifford drew his sword.
Footsteps approached.
“Get behind me, now!” He orders just as the door to my chambers slammed open.
Wood splinters flew everywhere as a figure in dark clothes rolled into the room.
I couldn’t see their face behind the silver and black mask rhat they wore.
The intruder moved faster than someone who was human would be able to move.
They had a sharp katana in each of their hand and they went straight for me.
Clifford stepped in front of me.
“Who are you?!” He demanded as he swung mercilessly with his sword.
But the intruder ducked under it.

Katherine tried to grab my arm to pull me away but I was already moving.
Clifford grunted as the attacker side stepped him and caught him at the upper arm.
I gasped as I realized that the intruder was coming straight from me then.
My feet became frozen.

Chapter 131
Everything slowed down and I predicted where the attacker would strike next.
I threw myself to the left just as one of their knives sliced through the air.
It was where my head had been.
Kathrine pushed me a little asI spun and kicked hard at the intruder’s knee.
There was a satisfying crack as the attacker stumbled backwards from the impact.
Clifford’s sword caught them across the chest and they went down.
But as they fell, their second knife flew through the air straight at me.
I tried to dodge but I wasn’t fast enough as thhe blade caught me in my left side.
It was just above my hip.
A sharp, burning kind of pain shot through me as my mouth fell agape.
Then a different kind of pain hit me lower in my stomach and I doubled over.
My hand went to my belly.
This wasn’t the baby kicking.
I knew that this was something else and it was something that was very wrong.
“Aquamarine!” Katherine’s voice called but it seemed to come from far away.
The room was spun before me as the pain in my stomach slowly got worse.
It spread down into my legs.
“Aquamarine,” I heard Clifford say.
I looked down and saw blood on my dress.
But it was not from the knife wound.
This pool if blood that I saw was coming from between my legs.
“No,” I whispered. “No, no, no.”
The last thing I remember before I blacked out was the sound of my own scream.
