LUNA AQUAMARINE’S POV

I saw the stone pavement below. Fear gripped my heart and I closed my eyes, preparing to be squashed to the ground.
But instead, I felt a pair of strong arms wrap catching me.
I opened my eyes to see a pair of golden ones staring back at me. I almost saw worry and fear.
“A–Alex,” I stuttered, my voice shaking.
But he flipped.
His nose flared and he released a hot breath on my face. Alexander’s face was set in a fierce expression, and he growled loudly, “Aaron! Juliet!”
I felt his body vibrate with anger as he yelled and set me to stand.
I just prayed he wouldn’t do anything to them. I looked around to see maids and some guards watching us.
Aaron came rushing out of the castle, wide–eyed with Juliet by his side having the same expression.
The moment they stopped in front of us, Alexander punched Aaron’s face.
Lwinced at the sound of the cracking jaw. Alexander’s punch made Aaron stagger back, his eyes wide with fear as he gazed
up at Alexander.
He roared, “I gave you one simple order. Not to let her out of your sight!”
Aaron looked disoriented as he tried to stand up. His eyes darted towards me before returning to Alexander. “I don’t know
“Silence!” he spat, his fist clenched. “Levi! Take him to the dungeon and release the Lycandise.”
More gasps echoed around us.
Fear gripped my chest. The Lycandise are lycans, but in their true forms, as beasts. Just like werewolves had wereling. But Lycandise are 10 times bigger and stronger.
They can not be tamed, at all.
Levi stepped forward and with a nod from him, he dragged Aaron away.
Juliet looked terrified, taking a step back as Alexander turned towards her “And you.“I glared at Juliet, “You will be dealt with accordingly
No. I can’t let anything happen to Juliet because of me. What if she hates me? Who would talk to when Kath isn’t by my
side?
I took a step forward, but Alexander’s glare stopped me I knew better than to intervene

“I’m not done yet.” He whispered harshly to me and dismissed everybody present there.
He began dragging me towards the entrance of the castle. I caught sight of Gaia from the corner of my eyes, with Elder Thaddeus and Elder Marcus beside her.
Gaia’s eyes lit up and her lips curved into a smirk. She cleared her throat and glanced at Alexander. “I see your Luna has a thing for drawing unnecessary attention don’t you think Alexander?” she taunted.
Her smile grew wider as she stared at me sweetly. “First it was the issue she caused at breakfast and now, she thinks she can fly because she suddenly feels she has grown wings.”
I was taken aback. But that wasn’t all, the Elder nodded in support.
Elder Marcus spoke first, his tone was soo calm, you’d think he felt sorry for me. “Luna Aquamarine, you didn’t have to
rebel because of a simple correction.”
What in the ……
“Queen Gaia was only trying to show you the ways of a true Luna. What exactly are you trying to prove by jumping out of the balcony?” Elder Thaddeus.
I could not believe my ears. Were they pointing the blame at me?
Alexander’s hold on my hand tightened. He glared at me and clenched his jaw. Then he faced Gaia, “Breakfast would be served again. Be sure to join us.”
Gaia’s smile reached her eyes as she grinned in excitement. “Oh, I’d love to join you for breakfast, Alexander. I’m sure it
will be splendid.”
Elder Thaddeus and Elder Marcus nodded in agreement.
How could they twist the situation like this?
Alexander’s grip on my hand remained firm as he pulled me away from them. I tried to match his pace.
Once we were out of earshot, I tried to tug my hand free. “Alexander, wait-”
But he didn’t stop or respond.
He just kept dragging me through the castle corridors until we reached the door to our chambers. He pushed me inside
and followed in.
He walked towards the bed and I stumbled backward as he towered over me
“What the fuck is wrong with you?!” he growled. “Jumping off a balcony? Do you breaking have a deathwish?!”
I swallowed hard, “I didn’t I stampered
But Alexander only gut more engry “stop freaking Mannering!” He yelled at me and pulled me closer to him.
My lips trembled as I stared at him and tears pricked at the corner of my eyes. “5 someone pushed me from the balcony

while I was in your study.”
His brows creased further, “What were you doing in my study? I left instructions for you to have breakfast!”

I opened my mouth and then closed it back. Should I tell him the truth about what Gaia and the Elders really did?
Would he believe me if I told him my part of the story?
He already believed their lies and he thinks I purposely jumped off. So how would I tell him about the shadow and the cloak?
“You better answer me Aquamarine.” He sneered.
“After breakfast was ruined Juliet and Aaron advised it would be best to eat elsewhere.”
He raised an eyebrow. “So they pushed you?” he questioned.
“No! They were keeping watch outside the door.” I replied fast.
“I don’t know who pushed me, I didn’t see a face. At first, I was looking at your scattered books on the table and then the next thing I was pulled to the balcony and I was falling.”
Alexander stared at me for a long time. I didn’t know what was going on in his mind but I just hoped he would at least believe me. But the moment his gaze went down to the book in my hand and his eyes hardened instantly.
“That book. Where did you find it?”
I swallowed hard. I didn’t like where this was going at all. “It was opened when I saw it on the shelf.”
“That’s impossible.” I heard him whisper. Alexander’s hand reached out to touch the book but he recoiled his hands. As if it
stung
“Where exactly did you find this book Aquamarine?” he asked again, but slowly this time.
I hesitated. “I told you, it was on the shelf in your study.”
Alexander’s eyes snapped back to mine, “You shouldn’t have been able to see it, talk less of touch it.”
A shiver ran down my spine as Alexander’s words echoed in my mind. I stared at the book in my hand.
What was so special about this burnt book? Is it more important than the fact that someone or something almost killed
me?
