Chapter 31
PRIMUS ALEXANDER’S POV
Aquamarine.
What exactly was she? During the coronation, she was able to wield the staff with ease when Gaia attacked. Her body and soul accepted the crown.
Yes, it all proved that she was bonded to me. It proved that the mating and the ritual were successful. Like she was born
for it all.
But hell, I knew she wasn’t normal. Not one bit.
How on earth was she able to touch that book without getting burned? How was she even able to see it despite it being locked away?
She was more dangerous than I thought.
A sudden coughing fit threw me out of my thoughts. I looked beside me to see Aquamarine turning red and her fragile body trembling as she choked.
As I fed her water to relieve her, I wondered if she was genuinely weak or just pretending to be.
She could be like Gaia. Hiding her true nature behind her beautiful, cunning mask of innocence.
She could be a spy who is after my pack, just like The Order had warned. But I’ve been too busy with the Moonstone pack and the Naturellia Kingdom issue to have a proper conversation with her or even investigate her further.
I glanced at Aquamarine and Esmeralda as they walked away.
Why would Aquamarine want to discuss something with Esmeralda? Esmeralda of all people? And it was Aquamarine who
asked for it.
I highly doubt it’s because she suspects I’m fucking that old hag.
But why did Aquamarine seem so anxious? Desperate even.
I turned my attention back to my food, while Gaia was trying to engage me in conversation and even trying to switch
seats.
But I wasn’t interested. “Excuse me, Gaia,” I said, standing up. “I have matters to attend to.”
Gaia grabbed my arm and snapped angrily. “Alexander, why exactly are you still keeping her here? That blind girl isn’t worth a copper coin,”
I shot her a warning glance and peeled her hands away from my skin. “I know you remember what I told you last night. Don’t push it,” I growled.
Gaia’s eyebrows creased. “Just look at her, she’s already causing soo much drama in the pack,” she retorted.

Elder Thaddeus nodded in agreement. “I agree with Queen Gaia.”

I raised an eyebrow as anger bubbled in my chest. “Of course you would. Don’t think I don’t know what really happened earlier,” I remarked dryly.
Gaia smirked. “So what? She jumped off the balcony because just like the others, she couldn’t handle me.”
My patience was wearing thin and I glared at Gaia. “If I find anything wrong with Aquamarine – whether it’s a missing strand of hair or a thread out of place in her clothes – I will send you back to the jungle you crawled out from,” I snarled at
her.
“Don’t forget you’re a guest here, and she’s the Luna of this pack.” I glared at the rest of The Order present. “Same goes for
all of you.”
Gaia’s jaw clenched, she folded her arms across her chest and looked away from me.
I stood up and turned to Levi, “Follow me.”
Levi nodded and followed me outside the dining hall. As soon as the doors closed behind us, Levi faced me.
“What’s on your mind, Alexander?” He asked, his eyes curious.
“I need you to keep an eye on Aquamarine,” I said, my voice low. “I don’t trust her and I want to know what she’s really
after.”
Levi rubbed his temples and sighed. “I really don’t think she knows about the artifacts or what her pack is into. Katherine told me about their lives in the Moonstone pack and I believe you’ve seen her scars well enough to know the type of life
she had.”
I kissed my teeth. “One can never be so sure, Levi. Gaia was once innocent, now look at her.”
Levi shook his head. “Don’t compare Gaia to Luna Aquamarine. You know they’re different.”
“No!” A familiar voice echoed. I looked ahead to see Aquamarine and Esmeralda discussing in hushed tones.
Or were they arguing?
The sight alone didn’t sit well with me for various reasons.
“Tell Esmeralda to meet me in the hall in 5 minutes,” I instructed Levi. “Also, I need to change the locks in my study.”
“Why?” Levi asked,
“According to Aquamarine, someone went in and was probably searching for something,” I replied.
Levi’s brows creased as he stared at me. “What?”
I nodded. “She mentioned books and tablets were scattered in my study, but I haven’t even been there today.”
“So who entered before her? What was the person searching for? Is anything missing?” Levi asked the exact questions on my mind.

I shook my head. “I don’t know yet, but the Book of Ashes was out in the open.” I paused and continued, “As we speak, it’s in my chambers. Aquamarine brought it.”
Levi’s eyes went wide in shock. “You mean the one that can’t be touched?”
I nodded.
“No freaking way,” he whispered. “I didn’t notice any burns on her hands. Are you sure it’s the book?”
I released a low breath, “I was shocked too. I just kept staring at it when she dropped it on the table. I touched it and it still
burned, Levi.”
I stared at my palms, still red and aching from the burns I got from touching the book. “She’s truly the one who can save
me.”
I looked at Levi, he still had that shocked look on his face, then he seemed to snap out of it and stare at me. “Shouldn’t you
be spending time with her then and leave The Order for the Moonstone case?”
“I definitely will, but you know how useless The Order is,” I replied with a low growl.
“And now that Gaia is here, things might not be as easy as they should be for Luna Aquamarine and you,” Levi added. “I
don’t understand why you agreed to keep her here.”
“It’s never supposed to be easy for her, Levi. Gaia isn’t the only threat,” I murmured.
Levi’s brow furrowed. “The Order? The pack members?” he inquired.
“The Order, yes. But that’s not all. Don’t forget the rivalry packs,” I warned.
“My enemies are now hers as well,” I added. “Two of them are currently in this castle as we speak, and one of them pushed her,” I said, my anger simmering just below the surface.
