LUNA AQUAMARINE’S POV
Two days had passed since Alexander found out I couldn’t shift and read.
I thought things would be different, but I was wrong.

I had a routine. In the mornings, he would take me out to the field, in the afternoons, I was in his workshop and in the
evening he would show me how to identify some symbols.
But he lied about the scroll, he still wanted to know its contents. But that wasn’t all.
His gaze is always darting between me and that burnt book.
The sun was almost setting as I walked with Juliet up the stairs. She seemed back to normal now, but I still had that image of her face imprinted in my mind.
I smelled like burnt iron and sweat. My plan was to wash up and go to bed before Alexander comes back.
But instead of peace. I saw the ticking time bomb.
Gaia was approaching us with Marcus and Thaddeus.
I had just found out that Marcus and Thaddeus were only three years older than me. But for some reason unknown to people, they looked like they were in their 40s.
The closer we got, the more Gaia’s smile widened and her gaze narrowed. She stopped in front of me but kept moving in
the same direction as me, blocking my path on purpose.
For two days, she had been doing this – stopping me at every corner, alongside her minions. But I had been trying my best not to engage in anything she did.
Katherine had reacted similarly, choosing to walk away instead. This was somewhat surprising, considering the fact that Katherine had almost fought her previously. Yet, Gaia remained persistent.
“I understand that you’re blind, but didn’t Juliet see me too?” Gaia mocked, her minions nodding in agreement and
snickering.
I shot them a look and they instantly stopped. I glanced back at Gaia. “What is the problem?”
“You’ve been having too much fun with Alex lately, haven’t you?” She gritted her teeth.
I felt myself heat up at her words. I wondered if I was indeed as loud as Alexander had mentioned. Juliet and Katherine
didn’t let me off either.
Gaia scoffed, and I cleared my throat
“Luna Aquamarine has every right to do as she pleases, Gaia,” Juliet replied. “She’s his mate and our Luna.”
“I need to speak with your Luna,” she said, her voice tight, as she crossed her arms. “Alone.” She added the last word after

glaring at Juliet, her gaze remained on Juliet for a moment before returning to me.
“No,” Juliet refused her immediately, her voice sharp and final. “If you have anything to say to her then you can say it
here.”
But her answer only made Gaia’s face twist in anger. I rested my hand on Juliet’s arm. “It’s fine, Juliet,” I assured her.

“But Luna, the Primus had instructed us not to leave you on your own again,” Juliet whispered, while Gaia just rolled her
eyes.
understand, but this is me telling you to give us a minute. You can wait close by.”
“The Primus has given me the authority to attack her when needed,” Juliet said. “Just say the word, Luna.”
Juliet glared at Gaia before walking out and standing just 5 feet away, keeping a watchful eye on us. Marcus and Thaddeus
did the same, their faces mirroring Juliet’s wariness.
“Shouldn’t you be scared?” Gaia said, her voice dripping with malice. “You know I can kill you, right? I don’t know what you were trying to prove to Alex two days ago when you didn’t shift.” Gaia’s eyes locked onto mine as I turned to face her.
“I know you can’t kill me, Gaia. I don’t need to reduce myself to your level either.” I said, smiling sweetly at her.
I watched Gaia’s eyebrows tick a little. I was finally getting into her skin. It was good.
Then she smirked, a cold glint in her eyes. “Maybe, not yet though. But Alex can. If there is one thing he hates, it’s careless people,” she said, eyeing me from my head to my toes.

“I’ll keep that in mind, Gaia.” I replied calmly.
She snarled, “especially ungrateful little thwarts who don’t value the things he does.”
But I just stared at her.
“Look at this,” she said while bringing something out from her pocket. “Don’t you think it’s beautiful?” She asked, a sly smile spreading across her face.
My eyes widened in shock and my heart raced. My hands flew to my neck as I stared at the pendant in her hand. The same pendant that Alexander gave me days ago.
I hadn’t even realised it was missing until now. “How-”
“During our little fight,” she sighed happily like she just achieved something soo extreme. “I knew you could never own something as special as this unless Alexander gave it to you. But you don’t deserve to wear this.”
Anger brewed in my chest. “It’s mine, Gala. Give it back.”
“Or else what? You’ll run to Alexander like a brat?” She scoffed. “Will you tell him that you misplaced it? How would he
react?”
Gaia’s words stung and I realised) needed to approach her with caution. Despite having her bracelets on, she still seemed
unstable.

“Gaia, do you think Alexander would be happy if you guys were together?”
She blinked at my words, her brows furrowing in confusion.
I took a step toward her, “Alexander-”

“This evening before the sunsets. Meet me at the west border,” she cut me off rudely. “Come alone and don’t keep me waiting.”
“Gaia-”
“But don’t worry,” she raised her arms and showed it to me. She now had two bracelets on. “I won’t kill you.” And with that, she left, with her minions behind her again.
I turned to Juliet, who was already standing close to me like a second skin. “You’re red again, Luna,” she said. “Did she threaten you?”
I chuckled, trying to hide my nervousness. “To leave Alexander alone? Yes, but let’s go.” I said leading the way.
Gaia was going to cause more trouble. And I wasn’t sure if I was ready for it. But I can’t afford to lose the pendant either. Or worse, get in Alexander’s bad books again.
“Wait, Luna Aquamarine. This isn’t the way to your chambers,” Juliet said, pulling me out of my thoughts.
I blinked, looking around at the unfamiliar corridors. I had been so lost in my thoughts that I didn’t even notice. “Oh, I just wanted to stretch my legs more,” I lied. “Let’s head back now.”
We reached my chambers and Juliet opened the door for me. I thanked Juliet before stepping in and closing the door
behind me.
I quickly rushed to the window and looked out.
Katherine’s chamber is in the west wing. So the west border would be in that area. But did Gaia mean inside the palace
gate or outside the main gate?
I looked ahead. The west side of the kingdom was surrounded by a few tall trees compared to the east side, which had
thicker trees.
I felt it was a set–up. She won’t kill me, but what would she do to me?
Demand for something in return? Like the nonsense Esmeralda demanded for?
Thinking back, the first thing she said when she crashed my coronation was for Alexander to reject me.
But if she asks for that, what would I do?
Rejecting Alexander?
