-after I sit her pretty little Throat,” Gaia whispered near my ear, still laughing:
Everything stopped
Everything crumbled under the rage that tore through me like wildfire.
“You killed her?” Ishiicked.

Katherine.
My Katherine?
My vision blurred as rage took over. I clawed at her face, kicked at her thigh, anything to make her let go. Gaia’s grip tightened around me, but it only made me angrier.
jerked my elbow backwards, hitting Gaia in the ribs. She grunted and stumbled, just enough for me to spin around.
She shoved me hard
Ishoved back harder,
The wind howled
The next second felt too fast and too slow all at once. Her foot slipped. She clawed the air. And then she screamed. The sound of her scream as her body tumbled backwards over the railing burned into my soul. Her body disappeared into the darkness below.
I stood frozen, chest heaving limbs trembling.
What just
I blinked at the empty space where she stood, then at my bloody hands and then panic punched through my gut.
I didn’t mean to
I didn’t- No, her vines must have caught her. Even when she had extra bracelets on, she was still able to summon her vines
She’d be back soon, very soon.R
“You shouldn’t have done that,” Esmeralda said coolly behind me. Her voice didn’t tremble. Not a flicker of grief. Not even surprise. Only a cold, unsettling calm. “But I suppose, it saves me a little time.”
I turned fast, ready to run, but she caught me by the wrist and
dragged me toward the centre of the symbols she had drawn even more, clouds bruised and growling.
Thunder cracked like a whip across the sky.
“Nal” I kicked out, struggled, screamed. “Lume gol
nearer. The wind slammed against the balcony now, fierce and cold. The sky had darkened
But she was stronger than before, her fingers clawed tight into my arm till felt blood trickle down slowly. She threw me down on the wet stone, pinning

She raised something above her head. Like a sharp piece of the Core Fang, split from the relic and bound in glowing red.
My eyes widened.
“Oh, and Aquamarine, In your next life, try to learn some magic. Because if you did, you should have known that if the part was still active” whispered, “you would have died the night you wele caught with the Core Tang But started breaking it that night you hold it. Because realised! needed not just the Core Fang-
She pressed the fang edge to my chest.
but your beating heart.”
My heart stopped and sweat trickled down my skin.
She was ne
really going to do it.
No one was coming. No one was going to stop her. I closed my eyes, tears burning down my face, praying
Please, please, someone
Then felt a gust of air, then a crack.
Asharp grunt echoed above me, followed by a heavy thud.
Topened my eyes to see Esmeralda stumbling back in shock, blinking last. Her head snapped toward the direction of the impact.
She didn’thit me. Someone had taken the hit.
Iturned slowly, limbs cold and trombling.
Someone was there, collapsed against the wall, groaning in pain. His body shielded mine. Blood spread across the floor beneath him.
-No! I gasped.
He turned his head slightly and grunted, teeth clenched. “I’m fine…”
But his knees buckled
His strength was already draining. Esmeralda had done something to him. I could see it in the way his eyes last focus
But Esmeralda kicked him aside like he weighed nothing. He hit the wall with a sickening sound and crumpled again.
“Aaron!” I cried out, crawling toward him.
Before I could reach him, Esmeralda grabbed me again, I tried to move. To scream. To do anything.
But then, a sharp pain shot through my body. The Core Fang sank into my side
I gasped, choking on air. My vision went white for a moment as the Core Fang burned me.
“GET:
GET AWAY FROM HER! a volte boomed soo loud that I thought it was thunder itself.
Iturned my head to the side just to see two mighty beasts running towards us
I was sure one was Alexander, Dark red fur and fiery gold eyes that were set to kill
While the other, I had never seen before in my lif

Chapter 65
It had large silver whiskers. Its large body was covered in black fur with white stripes. Two long curved fangs jutted from its upper jaw
A piercing scream escaped my lips as Esmeralda immediately pulled the Corn Fang out of my body.
Alexander had already knocked her down and sunk his teeth into my flesh, Probably healing me again, but I doubt his bite would work.
The cloak I wore was a already soaked and I could smell the fresh blood flow down my skin
Then, all of a sudden, Esmeralda started laughing
I didn’t know if it was the wind or the sound of her laughter that made me shiver.
But it didn’t sound like a human. It was something else. Something heart–wrenching.
and toe–curling.
Her voice warped into something else, something broken and layered. Like a thousand people laughing through one mouth. Male and female, deep and high–pitched, like the shriek of dying beasts.
But that wasn’t all.
I watched in horror as her skin started to crack like glass and her hair started falling to the ground.
She pulled herself free, blood trailing from her mouth, eyes and ears,
“Vengeance would mine Alexander!” Esmeralda screamed as she held up the bloody Core Fang into the air.
Then she jumped.
Off the balcony.
Gom.
Everything froze.
No one moved.
“Juliet!” Alexander called out. She ran in seconds later, dropping beside me and Aaron. “We have to get them stable. Now,”
The long fang beast ran toward the edge and shifted to human form. My eyes widened as I saw him. Levi, running back to us and running his hand through his hair. “Alex, you need to kill her to break the Pact and get the Core Fang!” he yelled, and Juliet will take care of things here.”
I felt Alexander’s body shift and leave mine but I stopped him
“Wait” I called out, coughing
Alexander turned to me slowly, his wolf still flickering his gold eyes. “What?
“Don’t bother,” I whispered, barely able to keep my head up. “What I gave her… the blood, the hair, the Core Fang.”
