Chapter 66
AQUAMARINE’S POV
Juliet’s head snapped toward me. Levi blinked, Even Aaron turned slightly
Alexander froze. “What did you just say?”
I swallowed, forcing myself upright. Every inch of me screamed, but I had to speak “What I gave her the blood, the hair, the Core Fang. They were all fake

“I didn’t give her the real things.” I whispered, my voice barely audible. “…couldn’t. Sol-
I paused, swallowing the tight knot in my throat. Levi leaned forward, “Luna, what did you do?”
Thesitated. My throat was dry, my heart hammering in my chest.
What if they didn’t believe me? What if Alexander hated me even more now? For lying, for taking it, for giving him one more reason to get angry? What it he thinks I’m cunning? Not to be trusted.
But it was too late to turn back now. I had to speak, for Katherine, Levi and Aaron’s sake.
I continued. “The blood I gave her. It wasn’t Alexander’s. It was pig’s blood, I got it from the kitchen that morning I was……caught
Juliet blinked again, her hands pausing
“And the hair,” I continued, heart hammering in my chest. “It’s a horse mane, I soaked it in liquid Riogara to make it red. I got it from one of your other Kyrexeis.”
Aaron let out a sound that might’ve been a laugh, or a groan, “You used Rigata
Inodded. “Even the Core Fang. It was fake. I made it in Alexander’s workshop. It’s just glass and metal scraps. I melted it and shaped it like the real thing. Then I dipped it in Riogara to make it glow red and to make it burn when touched.”
“You… you poisoned yourself?” Levi muttered. “What about the pact?”
*Esmeralda broke it that night, when she realised she needed me alive,” I replied. “I couldn’t give her what she asked for, I thought the trick might work. 1 just needed to get the scroll back from her.”
Juliet’s mouth parted, but no words came, Levi looked at Alexander.
He was kneeling beside me now, silent, but I could feel the tension rolling off him like waves. He stared, like he didn’t know what to say.
He reached for my cloak.
“Don’t,” I whispered, trying to shift away.
But he didn’t listen. He opened it slowly, pulling the blood stained fabric aside.
Alexander’s jaw clenched. His eyes flickered with something sharp and heavy. Maybe guilt. Maybe disbelief.
The wound was red, blistered, and raw, lot deep, but a little infected and too hot. The Biogara had burned me from the inside.
“She really stabbed you with that thing” Juliet muttered, voice Light Julet reached into her pouch and pulled out a small blue vial “Pour this Slowly!”
Alexander didn’t hesitate. He uncorked it and gently poured the contents over the burn. I bit my lip to keep from screaming. It sizzled slightly, but then a

cool numbness spread through my side.
Juliet handed him a piece of cloth and he carefully wrapped it around my sides.
I glanced at his face while he worked, just once and I regretted it instantly. His eyes were dark. Distant and something I couldn’t name
I looked away again when I felt my skin tingle. Tiny drops of water fell as the wind picked up nowy
“Primus,” a voice called out. “We need to talk about –
“Get out, Alexander growled without looking at the person who was talking I also didn’t bother to look up. But the air still felt heavy. Alexander was stil close. I couldn’t breathe. I didn’t want to see what was in his eyes.
I turned to Levi instead. “Take me to her”
“Who?”
Katherine.”
His brows furrowed. “You shouldn’t be moving.”
“Gala said she slit her throat,” whispered. “And if she didn’t, then I want to hold her if she did… then I want to hold her anyway”
I wonder what he would do to me when Gaia tells him what I did to her. But I really hope I won’t be here during their coronation

Hooked at Alexander, but not in the eyes. “Can I have your permission to leave the chamber? To see Katherine?” asked o
But I didn’t wait for more. I wrapped myself with the cloak and tried to stand but my legs gave out
Alexander moved quickly to catch me.
“Don’t,” I said softly, “I’m fine,”
He froze.
My knees were weak. My side still bumed. But I couldn’t let him touch me. Not right now.
I turned to Levi. “Can you please take me?”
Without waiting, Levi bent and picked me up, arms strong, gentle, I didn’t look back. I couldn’t.
The hallway was quiet as Levi carried me through the castle. My eyes barely stayed open, but I remembered Gaia’s words:
“She gave her last word after I slit her pretty little throat.
That couldn’t be true.
She was lying. She had to be.
Levi opened the door slowly and stepped inside.
“Kath?” I called out solly
For a moment, nothing. Then a cough. A soft voice. “Aqual”
Rebel rushed through me like a breaking dam.

She was alive.
Katherine sat up on the bed she laid on. Her face was pale, but her eyes still held light. There were bruises, cuts but she was alive.
Levi lowered me
Ime gently beside her, and I reached out, grabbing her hand. She hugged me first. Tight. Her fingers were trembling
thought Gala killed you,” I whispered into her shoulder.
“Gala is back?” She asked with wide eyes. “I thought she was sent back to her pack”
Gahad lied.
Apain.
Heaned back, brushing her hair behind her ear. “You’re really okay?” I smiled, but it trembled.
Hooked at Levi, then turned my head just enough to catch Alexander at the door.
He was there. Of course. I didn’t lift my eyes.
“I know it’s not my place. But can I stay with her tonight?”
My voice cracked,
He didn’t speak f
k for a moment. Then he nodded slowly.
I turned back to Katherine and Levi helped adjust the blankets. Katherine moved over to make space for me. She tugged my hand beneath hers, holding irtight.
“I’m so sorry.”
Katherine placed a shaky hand on my cheek. “You’re the one bleeding,” she whispered, brushing away a tear.“You shouldn’t be here. You should be resting, woman

dimmed as Levi stepped out and the door clicked shut. I listened to the thunder outside. The castle was quiet. The storm was coming.
My body still aches, my side especially but my heart… my heart just felt tired.
I don’t know if he’ll ever forgive me, I thought. Maybe I don’t deserve it. But right now, I’m just glad she’s alive.
For the first time in days, I felt safe and I let sleep finally take me
