LUNA AQUAMARINE’S POV
I couldn’t sleep.
Alexander lay beside me, sleeping like a dead fish breathing evenly like nothing in the world could touch him.
But when sleep finally came to me, it hit hard.
I was in that room again. Alexander’s innermost chamber.
“Aquamarine,” an icy voice called out.
Goosebumps spread all over my body as I slowly turned to see a figure stepping out of the dark. Cloaked head to toe, face hidden, taller and quiet. The figure leaned close. I couldn’t see its face or feel its aura.
“Who are you?” I stammered, heart racing but I got no answer. As always.
Instead, my hands grew heavier and wet. I looked down–blood, thick and dark, running down from something I was holding.
Like a book. It suddenly went up in flames….
“Alexander-” My chest tightened as the cloaked stranger tried to grab the thing from my hand. I wanted to let go of it completely and let the intruder have it. But for some reason, the book refused to
move.
Later, I could feel its hands on my shoulder, shaking me and screaming my name.
“Alexander!” I screamed as the book continued to burn.
I jolted awake, gasping. My hand pressed tight against my chest.
“Aqua, are you ok?” he asked, wiping the sweat off my face and staring at me.
Worried?
My throat was dry. “Y–yes. I’m fine.”
His gaze dropped to my hand. “Your silent screams and cries were loud enough to stir my wolf Aqua.”
I shook my head. The dream still clung to me–the blood, the chants, the figure.

He studied me in silence, long enough that my skin prickled. “It’s me again isn’t it?”
I opened my mouth to speak again but he cut me off. “There is no need to answer. I already know.”
“It’s not…..” I trailed off.
Wouldn’t it be better if he kept feeling guilty? Maybe that way, he’d finally apologise for what he did and maybe I’ll forgive him.
Maybe.
“Aqua I-” he paused. His brows creased and his jaw clenched. “I’ll leave you,” he groaned, slowly letting go of my arm and pulling himself away.
The words instantly burned deep in my mind.
“No!” I grabbed his arm and pulled him back.
Leave me here? Alone?
Hell no!
He glanced at me and scratched the back of his head. As if he were debating, “Are you sure?”
“Yes.” I nodded and cleared my throat. “I–I.” I stammered. “I need your heat, I’m really cold,” I lied,
faking a cough.
He raised an eyebrow but didn’t say anything. He just nodded and came closer. But he still
maintained the distance I created the night efore.
But it wasn’t enough. I moved closer till our bodies met.
Waking up wasn’t normal.
My body was pushed away with force and I heard a heartwrenching sound.
I jerked up, my lungs burning, my heart slamming against my chest as if it wanted to escape. I searched the room, and then I saw him.
Alexander, off the bed, his back bent. One hand gripping the dresser while the other clutching his
chest.
“Alexander?” My voice was hoarse, sleep still pulling me down.

He groaned and gashed his teeth. His entire body shook, sweat running down his temples as if he was trying to endire pain.
I jumped out of the bed, rushing to him before I could think. But the second I reached for his arm, his head snapped toward me.
“Stay the fuck away, Aqua!”
The curse hit me like a slap.
I froze. My fingers hung in the air, the distance between us heavier than stone. He’d never spoken to me like that.
Never with that rage.
I flinched and took a step back. A lump formed in my throat as confusion twisted in my chest. His
were dark and sharp. Wild and vertical.
“Alexander, I don’t understand-” I started, but he cut me off with a snarl that made the air sting.
“I said stay back!”

He staggered against the dresser, breathing ragged, his knuckles white where they pressed against his chest. His body looked like it was caving in on itself, but still he refused to let me close.
I didn’t understand. Not until I followed his gaze.
And then I saw it.
My hands. My hands weren’t empty.
I was holding a book.
Not just any book–the book.
The one I took from his study. The one he constantly glared at as if it were his greatest enemy. The one even Levi refused to touch and had to destroy the dresser for. The book was warm against my hand, as if it were growing hot or getting cold.
But then, my eyes widened in shock as I recognised it. I gasped and dropped it to the ground. “This- it was only a dream. It was-”
But it wasn’t. It was here. Heavy and solid, as real as the floor beneath my feet. The book from my dream. The burning book in my hand that the cloaked person wanted to get from me.

Alexander’s growl deepened. He dragged himself upright, but he didn’t move closer. His eyes burned holes into me, into the book. “Where the hell did you get that? Why were you holding it in your sleep? Is this your freaking way of payback?”
“I–I–I don’t know!” The words tumbled out fast, desperate. “I’m just as surprised as you are. I just
woke up and-”
“Aquamarine.” He dragged my name in a low growl that made my breathing hitch.
“I’m not lying!” I choked, clutching the thing tighter even though I wanted it gone. “I don’t know how it’s here! The last time I saw it was when I was still locked up in the cage!”
Alexander’s chest rose and fell too fast, too rough. His jaw clenched, veins standing out along his
throat as if he were fighting himself to stay in the same room as the book.
His voice dropped, raw and low. “I thought I told you to return that thing to where you took it from.
You need to return it now!”
“I didn’t have the time to do it before. Remember you made sure I was busy with your weapons and Gaia!” I snapped and kicked it forward. “If you think I stole it then you can check it and return it
yourself.”
He flinched like I’d thrown fire at him. His hands twitched but didn’t reach. His eyes locked on it with fury and terror. “I can’t.”
My stomach twisted, bile rising in my throat. “What do you mean you can’t?”
“Nobody in the Kingdom can touch it without burning Aqua. That book holds secrets…..” he groaned. “But one can touch it, not even the witches or wizards.”
I picked the book up again and held it tighter, half wishing it would burn me just to prove him right. I really hope it’s not the same situation I had with the Core Fang. I can’t go through that all over again.
My brows creased as a chill ran down my spine “But nothing is happening to me. Why?”
Alexander’s eyes narrowed. “That’s what I want to know.”
“I didn’t call it.” My hands trembled. “I didn’t bring it here. I only-” my breath hitched, but I pushed
on, “-I dreamt about it.”
Alexander froze. His jaw locked, his whole body going still. “You what?”
