LUNA AQUAMARINE’S POV
The door banged open.
I froze.
:
Levi’s and Alexander’s head snapped toward the sound.

Clifford stood at the entrance, eyes widened in horror, chest heaving as if he’d run all the way here.
He finally saw me in that state.
His mouth opened but no words came out.
The silence crushed me.
My face burned hotter than my hand. I wanted to hide, to vanish. I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me whole.
Anything that would make this memory fade from his brain, I’m down for it.
“What the-?” Clifford finally asked. His voice cracked halfway between shock and anger.
Alexander’s body shifted slowly. His hand dropped from my wrist, but the ache stayed behind, raw and sore.
“Get out,” Alexander said. Not shouted. Just flat, like a command no one sane would argue with.
Clifford didn’t move. His eyes darted from me to Levi, then back to Alexander. “What are you doing to her? She’s already hurt!”
The tension in the room snapped tighter.
I wanted to speak, to tell Clifford I was fine, to make him leave before Alexander lost control again, but my voice caught in my throat.
“Where the fuck were you while this happened?” Alexander cut in. His voice rose as he finally lifted me off the floor, but he gripped my wrist tight.
Levi put his hand on Alexander’s arm, but Alexander shook him off like nothing could touch him. His rage filled the space until it was hard to breathe.
Clifford clenched his fists, but I saw the flicker of hesitation in his eyes. He wasn’t stupid. He knew he was no match. Still, he stayed.
“Stop it,” I blurted out after spitting the rag out of my mouth. The words cracked from me before I could stop them. Both of them turned, and I felt my stomach twist under their eyes. “I was the one who got distracted
and-”

“I leave you for a few hours,” Alexander barked. “And yet see what you caused.”
I scoffed.
What I caused?

“I remembered we agreed on not helping me with anything. I’m not even bleeding!” I snapped back. My throat was dry, “I never asked for your help. It’s a minor injury. I wasn’t feeling any pain till both of you attacked me like starved beasts and made it worse with your nonsense!”
His head snapped toward me. His jaw tightened, and I knew I’d struck the wrong nerve, but I couldn’t stop. “I’ve faced worse than a little burn since I got here so why are both of you acting weird over a minor injury? What is really going on-”
Alexander’s voice cut me off. “Levi, let Aaron show Clifford around. There are some things he needs to do first.”
Blood rushed to my head.
Hell no.
The last time Aaron and Juliet were taken out because of me, they didn’t come back normal. I still remember the looks in their eyes, like it was filled with soo much hatred for me.
“Touch my Kyrexeis and I swear to the Goddess, Alexander, this little burn wouldn’t be the only thing you’ll be worried about.” I glared at him, my chest heaving.
The room went silent.
Levi’s eyes widened and Alexander’s whole body stilled. His face twisted, not with surprise, but with something darker.
He stepped closer to me again, his shadow swallowing me whole. His voice dropped low, steady, but shaking with fury. “Say that again.”
I tried to swallow the lump in my throat, but I couldn’t.
Truth be told, there is nothing I can use to threaten Alexander, but I won’t go down without a fight. “I- I said
“I’ll go,” Clifford’s voice cut me off.
No.
My gaze flew to him. He didn’t look at me when he said it. His eyes stayed locked on Alexander, like he was ready for whatever came. If only he knew the type of monsters he might face.
Levi moved fast, stepping between them before Alexander could answer. “Let’s go,” he said flatly.
I caught the flicker in their eyes before they left, the way they lingered on me for a second. Especially Clifford’s. Like he didn’t know if he was leaving me with a wolf or with a man.

Alexander towered over me. He stepped in until I was trapped between him and the wall, his breath hot against my cheek.
My chest burned with the urge to scream, to shove his rage back in his face, but I knew what that would unleash.
Somehow, I didn’t want him to leave yet.
If he leaves, he’d go back to Fiona.
If he stays, I won’t be able to do what I’m supposed to do.
“You can glare all you want,” I said, my voice low but steady. “But if you have even a shred of respect for me, you won’t touch him.”
His eyes narrowed. For the first time since dragging me here, he shifted his weight back, giving me room to breathe a little. “Respect?” he repeated.
“Yes.” I forced my gaze to hold his. “Because this isn’t just about Clifford. It’s about me. If I can’t handle one wolf–if I can’t solve one problem on my own–then the Elders are right. I’m not fit to lead anything. And you will have more reasons to say I’m useless.”
His jaw flexed hard and his muscles twitched. His eyes cut to my hand, the wound he’d cursed over, then back
to me.
“If you keep running wild every time you think I’m hurt, no one will take me seriously and rumours will spread too,” my throat tightened. “I’ve already had enough insults these days, Alexander. From you and-“I stopped myself.
Telling him what Lorenzo said would change nothing. Telling him anything wouldn’t even help. I promised myself–no more help from him.
His hand lifted my chin. My stomach turned when I met his eyes–soft gold bleeding into them, wild and blurred, like he was high on something.
As if he wasn’t even listening to me.
My heart kicked against my ribs as his gaze locked me in place. “Say the name, Aqua.”
