I could feel his breath against my mouth

Name who insulted you.”

I couldn’t tell if it was a growl or a husk. But my heart raced soo bad that my body began to tingle

God

I hated how desperate I felt. I hated how my body leaned toward him as if I was under a spell. For the first time since the day Fiona cooked my arm, I finally caught his scent

But it was faint

My lips opened slightly, desperate to close that last inch, but right when they were about to touch, he stopped

He just stared at me. His eyes went to my lips, my cheek, my nose till it stopped at my eyes and just paused. I swallowed hard but my knees were trembling soo bad that I had to grip his arm. For a second I swore he could hear the pounding inside my chest. His

Then he pulled back and backed me

The cold that rushed in where his warmth had been felt like a slap on my face

My throat burned to the point that I didn’t even realise tears flowed down my cheeks till I sniffed

He walked to the door and before I could move, before I could even breathe out his name, he was gone

Again

I stood there. Speechless and furious

Furious at him

Furious at myself that once again, I had let him come in and do as he pleases

I collapsed on the bed. Ignoring the pounding in my head and just stared at the ceiling

Elder Lorenzo

Clifford

Alexander

His behaviour towards my burns

Moonstone pack

I couldn’t breathe. Something was definitely wrong in soo many places and I really need to wrap my head around a lot of things

I didn’t know how long I stayed in that position or if I slept

I didn’t know how long I stayed there, or if I drifted off. But when I heard a knock, I lazily turned to the other side of the bed

Luna Aquamarine, your dinner is here.”

That voice

I turned back just to see her

Fiona. Coming into my room with a tray on her hand and a smirk on her face. I hope I’m not disturbing you?she teased. Her voice was soft. Her eyes weren’t

I pushed myself up. You’re not stationed in this castle.”

My voice was hoarse, but steady

Her lips curled. Maybe. But I guess you’re too blind to see how things are slowly changing.”

Changing

You know you won’t stay here forever, right?I forced my voice to be as calm as possible. Once the debt is paid, all of you will go back to the Moonstone pack and this your madness will stop.”

Her eyes glinted sharp. Hmm. I guess Alexander has other opinions about that.”

My jaw locked. Take the food and get out.”

She didn’t move. Instead, her fingers trailed across my dresser like she owned it

The Primus didn’t look happy when he left, she said sweetly, Too sweet. Did you disappoint him already? No child yet? No wolf?”

My chest burned. I bit the inside of my check, forcing myself not to snap. But my blood boiled anyway

She chuckled, What happened to proving yourself and giving him a strong heir?”

I said get out!My voice cracked through the air

Her head tilted slowly, predatorlike. The corners of her mouth spread wider. Careful, little sister. Actions have consequences. Look at your arm. Still not healed? It proves to everyone you truly have no wolf. That you heal like a human, the Primus’s speech won’t help you out of this.”

Her words struck hard. I knew she had spilled that soup on purpose

My breath caught. For a moment, I almost glanced at my arm

Almost

But I didn’t. I kept my eyes locked on hers, even as my chest ached from holding myself so tight

If you think strength is measured by a wolf, you’re dumber than I thought.” My voice came low, steady, sharp. I leaned forward, staring her down. I’ve done things you could never do. Seen things you’ll never see. Heard things you’ll never hear. So if you think using Alexander’s attitude will scare me? Sister, wake up.”

Her smile vanished. Just like that. Her eyes narrowed, dark and furious, her glare pressing down heavy

She moved, sharp and angry, closing the distance

Don’t think for one moment-she started, voice tight with venom

I didn’t let her finish

I forced myself to stand despite the way everything seemed foggy to me for some reason

Without another word, I crossed to the door and pulled it open. The hinges groaned loud, echoing. The guards outside snapped their heads toward us. Perfect

I need to rest, Fiona.I pitched my voice loud enough for them to hear. We’ll continue our discussion later.”

Her eyes flared. Her jaw clenched tight. I saw the twitch in her lips, the words she wanted to spit but couldn’t with witnesses there. She bit down on them hard

Then, like she’d been rehearsing all her life, she smiled. She lifted the tray and gritted her teeth, Of course, Luna.”

I didn’t move. Didn’t flinch. Just held the door wide, body between her and my room

She slipped past me

She smiled until the last step. But I saw it

The storm in her eyes

And I knew she wasn’t done

I staggered to the bed and collapsed onto it. My limbs felt weak

I wasn’t sure why. But it felt like my wolf was breaking down and gaining strength again

Was it what Levi applied on my hand

Could I be feeling like this because of Alexander’s scent

I couldn’t tell, but I felt restless. The only thing I could hear was the unsteady sound of my heartbeat

Then, without warning, a loud howl suddenly pierced the air

The noise faded away, but left me shaking like a leaf despite the windows being shut

My eyes flew open and my heart raced. Oh no.” I whispered in a shaky breath
